Al's Pals: Stronger Together

Our Story

Al’s Pals was founded in 2020 by a group of close friends in Exmouth, united by the shared loss of their dear friend, Alison, who sadly passed away from cancer in December 2019 at the age of 49.

Alison was a much-loved member of the community, and her passing left a profound impact on those who knew her.

Determined to honour her memory and support others facing the challenges of cancer, Al’s Pals was set up as a local fundraising group dedicated to raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Our Mission

Our mission at Al’s Pals is simple: to raise as much money as possible to support those affected by cancer.

Macmillan Cancer Support was there for Alison and her family during their darkest times, and we are committed to giving back to this incredible organisation that provides essential care, guidance, and comfort to so many.

What We Do

Since 2020, Al’s Pals has been actively organising and participating in a wide range of fundraising activities and events. We believe that fundraising should be as diverse and vibrant as our community, which is why our events range from the adventurous to the creative. Some of our past events include:

Parachute Jumps: Taking the leap to raise funds with exhilarating skydives.

Garden Parties: Bringing the community together with beautiful outdoor gatherings.

Clothes Sales: Repurposing fashion for a cause, with all proceeds going to Macmillan.

Cocktail Making: Shaking things up with fun-filled evenings of cocktail crafting.

Hikes and Runs: Staying active with charity runs and scenic hikes.

Wreath Making and Pottery Nights: Channelling creativity into fun workshops.

These events not only raise funds but also bring our community closer together, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and support.

Our Impact

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, Al’s Pals has raised nearly £80,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This achievement is a testament to the power of community and the impact we can make when we come together for a common cause.

We are proud to be one of the leading fundraising groups for Macmillan in the Southwest and are committed to continuing our efforts to make a difference.

About Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Cancer Support has spent more than 100 years helping people living with cancer. We know that cancer can disrupt your whole life. And it can be made worse simply because of who you are and where you live.

But we’re here to change that.

The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, and every one of them needs the best support to meet their unique needs.

That's why we'll do whatever it takes to help everyone living with cancer across the UK get the support they need right now and transform cancer care for everyone who will be diagnosed in the future.

Help us reach the people living with cancer who need us most.  To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk.

Al's Pals is a group of volunteers who fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support, registered charity in England and Wales (261017), Scotland (SC039907) and the Isle of Man (604), also operating in Northern Ireland.

Collectively we firmly believe we can be stronger together and turn desperately sad situations in to something positive.
