Back in 2012, Geoff single-handedly set up Driftwood Fundraising Group. Monies are raised for Macmillan through two main avenues.
Admissions to an annual garden trail, which usually takes place on the last weekend in July and includes gardens from Brighton to Seaford and along the coast in between.
Geoff additionally owns a multi-award-winning garden himself, which is open by arrangement to the public in the summer and all income derived from entry, grand annual raffle, tours, tea and cakes are donated to Macmillan. Geoff makes all his own cakes too.
Geoff sources gardens for the trail, completes risk assessments, maintains the trail website and does all the publicity and marketing for the events.
Other fundraising events are run as and when appropriate. In late 2020, monies were raised over Christmas based on Geoff's Christmas decorations featuring on national TV on both This Morning and a C5 documentary. In May 2021 Geoff decided to bare all on World Naked Gardening Day and raised over £800 for the charity.
The 2021 trail raised over £8,200 and Driftwood Garden raised £4,587, the grand total of monies raised for Macmillan to date is £98,006.
