About us

Driftwood Fundraising Group was set up back in 2012, after founder and sole committee member, Geoff Stonebanks, had been raising money for the charity for a few years, through events in his own garden, Driftwood in Seaford.

In 2012 the Macmillan Coastal Garden Trail was established which required liability insurance for each garden owner, hence the need to form a committee. Geoff single-handedly sources gardens, completes risk assessments, maintains the trail website and does all the publicity and marketing for the events.

Monies are raised through admissions on this trail, which usually takes place on the last weekend in July and includes gardens from Brighton to Seaford and along the coast in between.

Geoff additionally owns a multi-award-winning garden himself, which is open by arrangement to the public in the summer and all income derived from entry, grand annual raffle, tours, tea and cakes are donated to Macmillan. Geoff makes all his own cakes too. Tickets to visit Geoff's garden can be purchased by clicking the Driftwood Open Garden link here..

Other fundraising events are run as and when appropriate. In 2020 monies were raised over Christmas based on Geoff's Christmas decorations featuring on national TV on both This Morning and a C5 documentary.

In May 2021 Geoff decided to bare all on World Naked Gardening Day and raised over £800 for the charity.
