About us

Harpenden Macmillan Cancer Support is a small cog in the nationwide fund-raising machine that underpins the leading cancer support organisation in the UK.

98% of Macmillan's income comes from voluntary donations from supporters who bake, swim, cycle, play a raffle, donate or fundraise their own way to help Macmillan to be right there for everyone living with cancer. We are proud to be able to provide part of that fundraising income and grateful to the huge amount of support we get from our local community.

Fundraising in the time of Covid remains tough. With the exception of our quiz (which migrated to Zoom) film night, coffee morning, jazz brunch, garden open days and our much loved Christmas garland workshops all had to be shelved in 2020. While we have high hopes we will be back in the real world later in 2021 we are trying to maximise online giving and virtual fundraising in the meantime.

Thank you to all our supporters who continue to donate; even when there are no events planned. Cancer won’t wait until the pandemic is over so we won’t pause in our efforts to fundraise to provide as many people as possible with access to a Macmillan nurse.

Macmillan services are urgently needed now more than ever but they simply can’t continue them without your help. Please donate today to help make sure Macmillan can keep delivering this critical support. Macmillan nurses, doctors and other health professionals up and down the country are there to continue to support people living with and beyond cancer.

Comprehensive cancer information and support is available on www.macmillan.org.uk and our online community continues to provide invaluable emotional and peer support. The Macmillan Support Line is open 7 days a week on 0808 808 0000.
